I'd think another difference between our approaches to food is that Americans tend to think poor folks should fix their own damn problems, even when in some areas there literally is nothing to eat but processed crap. It stands to reason that a land that has single-payer government healthcare would also be making an active effort to help people eat some damn veggies.

I don't think you should blame all of the differences on diet, though. Perhaps the climate is nice to skin, or perhaps the genetics are different due to different historical immigration patterns. Or, perhaps you're doing the outbreeding behaviour thing of finding "different" attractive, and now you're surrounded by body and face types you're not used to seeing.
